Neermahal Tourist Center Gains Momentum with Substantial Government Investments: Sushanta

In a bid to bolster its presence on the global tourism map, the government has allocated significant funds for the development of Neermahal tourist center.

A total of 16 crore rupees have been invested, with 6 crore rupees dedicated to infrastructure development in the Swadesh Darshan-1 project, and an additional 10 crore rupees allocated on the occasion of the G-20 Science Conference.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury made this announcement during the inauguration of the three-day traditional Neermahal Jal Utsav at Rajghat in Melaghar.

Notably, the festival is jointly organized by the Department of Tourism, Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Rudrasagar Refugee Fishermen Cooperative Society, Melaghar Municipal Council, and Sonamura Sub-division Administration.

During the event, Minister Chowdhury emphasized that the Tourism Department is actively taking measures to enhance the appeal of the state’s tourist centers, including Neermahal. He revealed plans to introduce a state-of-the-art light and sound system at Neermahal in the near future. Moreover, he stressed the importance of public responsibility in maintaining the newly developed modern infrastructure at these tourist centers.

The Minister expressed a commitment to making all tourist centers in the state more attractive to both local and international visitors. He urged the officials of the concerned department to intensify efforts in promoting the Neermahal Jal Utsav for the benefit of domestic and foreign tourists in the coming days.

The three-day Neermahal Jal Utsav features a range of exciting events, including long-distance swimming, boating competitions, mansamangal contests, bike rallies, and captivating cultural programs. Entrepreneurs have come together to organize these activities, with an open invitation for families to come and enjoy the water festival at Rajghat in Neermahal.

Cooperative Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, the chief guest at the event, praised the government’s initiatives to upgrade the infrastructure of tourist centers, aiming to make them more appealing to visitors. Prominent figures such as MLA Kishore Barman and philanthropist Debabrata Bhattacharya also spoke at the inaugural function.
