Agartala, 14th June 2025: In a joint operation late last night, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Madhupur police successfully arrested Narayan Sarkar, an alleged international human trafficker and smuggler, from the Konaban area. Sarkar, known for his involvement in illegal trade across the Bangladesh border, was apprehended along with a stolen motorcycle at around 11:00 pm.
According to police sources, Sarkar had long been under surveillance for his alleged activities, including trafficking stolen bikes, narcotics such as Phensedyl and Ganja and reportedly facilitating the movement of Rohingya individuals across the border. Complaints had been lodged against him at various police stations, but he had previously evaded capture.
Last night, the BSF personnel from the Radhanagar camp in collaboration with Madhupur police intercepted Sarkar as he was attempting to smuggle a stolen motorcycle across the border. Following his arrest, he was taken to the BSF camp for preliminary interrogation before being handed over to Madhupur police.
Authorities are now investigating his network and potential associates in Bangladesh. The Madhupur police have registered a case and intensified efforts to identify others involved in cross-border smuggling.
