NSS Unit of Subhashnagar HS School holds awareness camp for building a drug-free society

Agartala, 13th May 2026:   The NSS Unit of Subhashnagar H.S School successfully organised a community-based Anti-Drugs Awareness Programme on 12 May 2026 at school complex with the objective of spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promoting a healthy, conscious and responsible society.

The programme witnessed the gracious presence of parents and guardians, members of the School Management Committee (SMC), teachers, NSS volunteers and local community members. Their active participation made the event highly meaningful and impactful.

The keynote speaker of the programme, Raju Roy, PGT and NSS Programme Officer of the school delivered an informative and comprehensive address on the dangers of drug addiction. In his speech, he explained how adolescents are often drawn towards drugs due to curiosity, negative peer influence, mental stress, family neglect and various social pressures. He highlighted that drug addiction not only damages the physical and mental health of an individual but also severely affects academic life, family relationships, social values and future prospects.

He further stated that addiction destroys the concentration, confidence, and moral values of students, often pushing them towards crime, violence and social degradation. Stressing the importance of collective efforts, he emphasised the vital role of families, schools and society in preventing substance abuse. He appealed to parents to maintain a more caring, responsible and friendly relationship with their children and encouraged students to engage in sports, cultural activities and other positive social initiatives. He also remarked that only through awareness, proper guidance and mutual cooperation can a healthy and drug-free society be achieved.

Teachers of the school, Arpita Saha and Laxmi Dey Mitra also delivered meaningful speeches during the programme. They emphasised the need for collective social responsibility and continuous awareness initiatives to combat the growing menace of drugs in society.

The programme was presided over by the Assistant Headmistress of the school, Smt. Rama Dewan Mog who appreciated the sincere initiative undertaken by the NSS Unit and encouraged everyone to work together towards building a drug-free society.

The programme concluded successfully with a strong message of awareness, unity and social responsibility.
