One held with Eskuf worth Rs 10 lakh Matinagar

Agartala, 15th December 2023:   In a significant breakthrough, Tripura Police executed a successful anti-narcotics operation, seizing a substantial quantity of banned cough syrup worth over Rs 10 lakh from the residence of one Vicky Majumdar in Matinagar area near the Bangladesh border in West District.

Speaking with reporters Amtal Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Asish Dasgupta said that acting on a credible tip-off, the the police of Amtali Police Station, under the West District, conducted a raid on Friday, recovering 2090 bottles of the prohibited cough syrup known as Eskuf.  “The drug paraphernalia was cleverly concealed in sacks within Vicky Majumdar’s residence. We have arrested Vicky Majumdar in connection with the drug bust”, said the SDPO. He further confirmed the arrest and disclosed that the market value of the confiscated drugs is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh.

Matinagar area has long been identified as a drug corridor, with the SDPO of Amtali police station expressing the intention to crack down on individuals involved in drug trade in the region. Dasgupta highlighted the ongoing efforts to root out the drug trade network, emphasizing that more arrests are anticipated in the coming days.

An investigation has been initiated against Vicky Majumdar under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police are diligently working to uncover any potential accomplices and collaborators associated with Majumdar’s illicit activities.
