Agartala, 11th November 2024:    Citing a severe shortage of teachers, parents of primary school students at Melaghar HS Vidyajyoti School locked the school’s main gate on Monday demanding immediate action from education authorities.

The school currently has five teachers, but one has been assigned to the noon shift on deputation by the Education department leaving only four teachers to manage classes. Parents allege that with limited staff, the school struggles to maintain regular instruction and students are frequently dismissed earlier than scheduled due to the shortage.

This staffing issue, according to parents, has persisted for a long time despite multiple complaints to district education officials. Frustrated by the lack of response, parents and students resorted to protest, hanging a lock on the school gate to draw attention to their concerns.

Parents are demanding prompt appointment of additional teachers to ensure uninterrupted learning for students. They also warned that if their demands are not addressed, they would escalate their protest by organizing roadblocks in the coming days.
