Agartala, 22nd December 2024:   The Pensioners Association demanded that the state government and TRTC authorities pay their leave salary in cash and increase their pension. The association has long sought the payment of leave salary to TRTC pensioners under the Tripura State Govt. Undertaking EPF Pensioners Association. Despite a High Court verdict mandating the payment of leave salary to RTC pensioners since 1995, the money has yet to be disbursed.

During the press conference, the members of the EPF Pensioners Association reiterated their demand for the state government to pay their leave salary in cash within the next financial year. Additionally, they called for an increase in their pension from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 10,000.

Association’s member Ushma expressed the group’s frustration, stating, “The current ruling party had promised to resolve the problems of the Pensioners Association before coming to power. But that promise has not been fulfilled yet. Still, we do not want to blame the government. Our only demand is that the government should make arrangements to collect the money that is rightfully due to the pensioners.”

The Pensioners Association used the press conference as a platform to raise their demands through the media, hoping to draw attention to their plight and prompt action from the authorities. The association remains hopeful that the state government will address their concerns and fulfill their rightful claims.
