Agartala, 4th June 2025 : In the 1960s, India witnessed the historic “Green Revolution” under the leadership of renowned agricultural scientist Dr. M.S. Swaminathan. Now, nearly six decades later, the country is poised for another wave of green transformation – this time, led by the social platform Positive Barta.
To mark World Environment Day (June 5), Positive Barta has launched an ambitious, year-long nationwide campaign to plant one crore trees, following seasonal patterns suited to different regions. This visionary initiative aims to spark a new era of environmental consciousness – a modern-day Green Revolution for a healthier, greener future.
Positive Barta is a dynamic platform working toward building an industrially sustainable, eco-friendly and humane society by promoting education, healthcare, tourism, women’s entrepreneurship, social awareness and civic engagement. Its latest initiative – planting one crore trees in a year – is a testament to its commitment to environmental stewardship.
As part of the campaign, Positive Barta, in collaboration with Tripura Santiniketan Medical College and Santiniketan Medical College & Hospital, is organizing an extensive plantation drive. Each of the platform’s 10,000 members has been encouraged to plant at least five trees. Heads of affiliated institutions have also been urged to inspire participation among their teachers, staff, and students.
Importantly, this initiative is not confined to registered members alone. Environmental enthusiasts from all walks of life are invited to join the movement. Positive Barta firmly believes that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and a moral obligation for every citizen.
In a time when climate change and global warming are disrupting the planet’s natural balance, this large-scale movement stands out as a timely and praiseworthy effort.
Speaking about the campaign, Positive Barta founder and Medical College President Mr. Malay Pit stated, “Our goal is to plant one crore trees across India over the next year, focusing primarily on Tripura & West Bengal. We will follow seasonal planting to ensure optimal growth. We may not know who will own these trees, ultimately shade and oxygen from these trees will benefit all of us, we know that they are essential for everyone’s survival. Let us dream of a greener world—together, we can make that dream real.”
In an era of escalating environmental crises, this thoughtful, inclusive and inspiring initiative is undoubtedly a revolutionary step toward a sustainable future.
