Agartala: June 07. The Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath today appealed the people of the state refrain from using electricity in excess of the requirement and must record the correct information in the office of the Electricity Department for permission to use additional electricity.
Addressing a press conference the minister said that power service remains normal in state despite surge in power demand Due to severe fire conditions across the state, power demand has increased drastically.
“The electricity demand in the state was 357.4 MW yesterday. This is the most for a single day this year. The demand for electricity is also higher during puja days. In this situation, electricity consumers must refrain from using electricity in excess of the requirement and must record the correct information in the office of the Electricity Department for permission to use additional electricity”, he said.
He said that despite the increase in electricity demand, the electricity service in the state is normal.
“Arrangements are being made to supply electricity by purchasing electricity from outside the state to provide uninterrupted electricity service to the customers. Some customers are using excessive amount of electrical appliances without the permission of the power department. As a result of which many times the stress on the nearby transformers in the concerned area is gradually increasing. As a result the probability of transformer failure increases”, said Nath.
The Power Minister through a press conference urged the consumers to provide accurate information about their valid electricity usage to the Electricity Department.
He said that the employees of all levels of power corporation are making relentless efforts to provide uninterrupted power service in the state. Various services are available 24 hours a day to provide customer service.
