Pradesh Congress commemorates Gandhi Jayanti with solemn tributes

Agartala, 2nd October 2024:  The birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated with due dignity at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan here on Wednesday. Pradesh Congress leaders including President Asish Kumar Saha, MLAs Sudip Roy Barman and Gopal Roy paid tributes by placing wreaths on Gandhi’s portrait.

Pradesh Congress President Saha remarked, “Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on October 2 is observed as Non-Violence Day across the country. Gandhi played a pivotal role in the Indian freedom movement through his non-violence movement.”

Following the tribute ceremony, a procession took various routes culminating at Gandhighat, where respects were paid at Gandhi’s Martyr’s Altar.

Addressing the gathering, Saha expressed concerns about current national issues, stating, “There is a conspiracy to divide the country through violence and hatred, undermine the constitution, and destroy the integrity of the country. The Pradesh Congress will follow Mahatma Gandhi’s advice and fight together against this conspiracy.”
