Santana Chakma pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th birthday in Agartala

Agartala, 2nd October 2024:  On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th birth anniversary, Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma highlighted Gandhi’s immense contribution to modern India. “Mahatma Gandhi was the embodiment of non-violence, selfless service, and transparency,” Chakma stated during the celebrations on Wednesday.

The state government commenced the day by offering garlands at the Gandhi statue at Circuit House, followed by a tribute at the Gandhighat Shahid Bedi. Minister Santana Chakma was accompanied by West district’s District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar and other dignitaries.

Chakma emphasized the significance of Gandhi’s principles, noting, “Today, we celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. His dedication to non-violence, selfless service, and transparency continues to inspire us.” She also mentioned the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ program, observed from September 17 to October 2, and reiterated the BJP government’s commitment to rural development, aligning with Gandhi’s vision.
