Agartala, 6th August 2024:   Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, the royal scion of Tripura and former Chairman of Tipra Motha, called for the Indian government to engage in dialogue with the interim government of Bangladesh to prevent attacks on minorities and indigenous communities in the neighboring country.

In a Facebook post, Pradyot emphasized the importance of avoiding provocative statements. “Attacks on minorities and our indigenous people living in Bangladesh have increased. This is deeply concerning, and I am confident that the Government of India will initiate a conversation with whoever takes over the interim government. We must also ensure that no provocative statements are issued from our side,” he stated.

On August 5, Pradyot had a conversation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured him that India’s borders are secure and that no illegal influx would be permitted. Pradyot mentioned that the Home Minister is closely monitoring the situation and has directed security forces to remain vigilant at the borders.
