Agartala, 17th June 2025:   A large group of residents from the Barjala area of Bishramganj staged a road blockade on the Agartala-Udaipur National Highway this morning protesting against the alleged mismanagement of a poultry farm owned by BJP leader Ratan Debnath. The demonstration began at 11 AM in the Chechurimai area, one of Tripura’s busiest roads led to significant disruption in traffic flow.

Locals have long voiced grievances against the poultry farm, citing unbearable stench and a surge in flies due to unscientific waste disposal. Despite multiple inspections by administrative officials and repeated assurances of corrective measures, no substantial action was taken, leading to growing frustration among residents.

Upon receiving reports of the protest, Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaswal rushed to the scene to address the situation. Protesters alleged that Debnath, leveraging his political influence, continued operations without adhering to proper regulations or considering the hardships faced by the locality.

The District Magistrate assured demonstrators that if the poultry farm failed to comply with necessary health and environmental standards, strict action including possible closure would be taken to resolve the issue. Following his intervention, residents lifted the blockade.
