Agartala, 11th August 2025: In response to the growing blood shortage across the state, the Santirbazar subdivision Rubber Dealers’ Association organized a blood donation camp today at the Mukut Auditorium in Santirbazar. The initiative aimed to bolster local blood banks and encourage community participation in humanitarian efforts.
The camp was inaugurated by Cooperative minister Shukla Charan Noatia. The minister was accompanied by MLA Pramod Reang, Municipal Chairperson Swapna Baidya, Vice Chairman Satyabrata Saha, State Secretary of the Rubber Board Association Subrata Saha, Subdivision Secretary Subrata Majumdar, TFDP Board Director Bikash Sen, and social worker Debasish Bhowmik.
Speaking at the event, Minister Noatia emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation as a reflection of social responsibility. He urged all political and social organizations to unite beyond party lines and actively engage in such efforts, highlighting the critical role of youth in mitigating the state’s blood crisis.
Subrata Saha, the association’s state secretary, announced plans to extend similar camps to other subdivisions in the coming days. He also noted the association’s past contributions, including clothing donations and flood relief efforts.
However, Saha raised concerns about challenges faced by rubber dealers, citing instances of black-market trading by some unscrupulous traders operating outside the GST framework. He also alleged extortion by certain clubs in Bishalgarh and Bishramganj during Durga Puja festivities. Additionally, the association appealed to the Chief Minister to install two vehicle scanning machines at Churaibari checkpoint to enhance security and transparency.
A total of 30 rubber dealers voluntarily donated blood during the camp.
