Agartala, January 19: About 500 Samagra Shiksha teachers staged a protest in front of the office of the concerned department on Friday, demanding their due payment and certificate for completing the D.El.Ed course.

The teachers claimed that they had enrolled in the course between 2017 and 2019, but many of them could not finish it within the stipulated time.

As a result, they have been receiving Rs 7,000 to 8,000 less per month than their counterparts who have completed the course. They also alleged that they have not been given the certificate of D.El.Ed, which is essential for their career advancement.

The teachers said that they have been facing this problem for a long time and no one is listening to their grievances. They warned that if their demand is not met immediately, they will go on a hunger strike after one month.

They said that they have decided to come to the protest after suffering from the deprivation and injustice. Subir Saha, a teacher who led the protest, said that they want their rightful payment and certificate as soon as possible.
