Agartala, 28th April 2025: A resident of Maharani area in Udaipur sub-division was arrested on charges of making offensive comments about the Prime Minister on social media. The arrest was made early this morning in the Telkajla area under Melaghar police station.
The incident comes amidst heightened tensions in Udaipur following recent anti-national activities on social media. Representatives of the Udaipur Hindu Jagran Manch had filed a complaint demanding Mia’s arrest within 24 hours. “We could not stand by while such derogatory remarks were made against the Prime Minister,” said a member of the organization.
Additional Superintendent of Police of the Gomati district Souvik Dey confirmed the arrest. “Since last night, our team including the Udaipur sub-divisional police officer and the officer-in-charge of Radha Kishore Pur police station has been actively searching the Telkajla area. This morning, we successfully arrested the accused,” he stated.
Mia has been brought to Radha Kishore Pur police station for further questioning. Authorities are investigating the motive behind his comments. “We are committed to maintaining peace and addressing such incidents promptly,” added Dey.
