Agartala, 15th September 2025: With Biswakarma Puja just days away, the potters’ quarters across Santirbazar subdivision are buzzing with activity. From early morning till late into the night, skilled artisans are immersed in the final stages of idol-making, bringing the divine figure of Lord Biswakarma to life with every stroke of their brush.
Despite soaring prices of raw materials and limited scope to increase idol prices due to budget constraints from puja organizers, the craftsmen remain committed. Many have forgone rest and meals to ensure each idol is crafted with precision and devotion. For these artisans, the work is not merely a livelihood, it’s a sacred tradition deeply rooted in faith and heritage.
Idol prices range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 17,000 tailored to fit the budgets of local puja committees. Most of the idols are being sculpted by artisans with 15 to 20 years of experience, ensuring quality and artistic finesse. Once completed, the idols will be dispatched not only within Santirbazar but also to surrounding areas including Baikhora, Birchandra Manu, Rajapur, Olaichhara, Takma Chhara, Jolaibari, Betaga, and Bogafa.
As the festival approaches, the idols are gradually taking shape, each one adorned with the valorous aura of Lord Biswakarma. The dedication of these artisans promises to infuse neighborhoods across the subdivision with spiritual vibrancy and festive spirit.
