Agartala, 4th August 2024: In a remarkable act of community service, the students of the NSS unit from Chandrai Para 12th Class School took the initiative to repair a badly damaged road in Ward No. 10 of Ambassa Municipal Council. The poor condition of the road has been a persistent issue, causing numerous accidents and inconvenience to local residents, including the students commuting to and from school.
The road, riddled with potholes, posed a significant hazard, as evidenced by a recent incident in which a student suffered a head injury. Despite multiple complaints and appeals from the school and local residents, no action was taken by the concerned authorities to address the problem.
In response, the NSS unit students decided to take matters into their own hands. Under the guidance of their in-charge teacher, Swapan Nama, they organized a road repair initiative. The students worked diligently to fill the potholes and make the road safer for everyone.
Swapan Nama, speaking about the initiative, emphasized the deteriorating condition of the road and the challenges faced by students. He highlighted the importance of the NSS unit’s involvement in such community projects, expressing hope that their efforts would inspire greater responsibility among both the students and local administration.
This initiative has sparked a broader conversation about the role of public representatives and administrative officers in ensuring basic infrastructure maintenance. The involvement of students in road repair reflects a unique and unprecedented situation in India, raising questions about the responsiveness of local authorities.
