Agartala, 8th September 2025 : A tragic drowning incident claimed the life of a schoolboy in South Badharghat’s Ram Thakur Para here today.
The victim identified as Debu Das was the son of Milan Das, a resident of Ram Thakur Para. Locals informed that Debu and his younger sister had gone swimming in the pond adjacent to the Ramthakur Ashram. While the sister emerged safely after a brief swim, she was unable to locate her brother and broke down in tears.
Local residents rushed to the scene and immediately notified fire and rescue personnel. After an extensive search operation involving both firefighters and locals, Debu’s body was recovered from the pond and shifted to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead.
Despite reportedly knowing how to swim, the circumstances surrounding Debu’s drowning remain unclear, prompting concern and speculation among locals. Authorities have confirmed that the exact cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem examination.
