Agartala: May 07. SFI-TSU in the state has decided to launch a 15-day long state-wide movement against the problems which educational institutions are facing and demanding to eradicate the drug menace in the state.

Addressing a press conference this evening, SFI State Secretary Sandipan Deb said that TSU Central Committee and SFI State Committee meetings were held on May 6 and 7 and in the meeting the present situation was discussed in this meeting.

“The discussion took place on post-election terrorism. After the election was concluded many people have come under attack, houses were burnt, miscreants have also burnt students’ books and notebooks.   The biggest issue is that the workers of SFI and TSU are not allowed to go to the college. They are coming under constant threats that they will not be allowed to sit for the exam. But they should be prevented and move forward”, he told reporters.

“By privatizing education, they are trying to push the future of students towards darkness by introducing anti-education policies. As the left student organizations have been protesting against the attack on the education system of the state for the past five years, the movement will continue in the coming days to show the right direction to the government”, said Sandipan.

He said, next May and June in the state, the movement will be organized by creating a demand on the problems of the educational institutions. And deputation will be provided to the Sub-Divisional Magistrates to overcome this situation. Besides, a movement will be made against the passive attitude of the government against addiction. This movement will be organized from 15 to 30 June.

He also informed that deputation will be provided at all the police stations in the state.

“Post-election terrorism is going on across the state. The left student organization has decided to take a program in this situation”, he said.Sandipan said that everyone will plant trees in their homes on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5. SFI and TSU have decided to plant 5000 trees across the state.
