Since January BSF seizes Rs 20 Cr drugs, detained 38 peddlers in state

Agartala, 29th November 2023:    In a significant move to safeguard Tripura , the Border Security Force (BSF) deployed in the state has seized and destroyed contraband items valued at over Rs 20 crore and detained 38 Indian and Bangladeshi drug peddlers from January to November this year.

The BSF Tripura Frontier, in a series of posts on X formerly known as Twitter, highlighted its commitment to protecting borders, intercepting illegal activities, and its achievements in seizing and destroying contraband items.

According to the posts, BSF’s relentless efforts in 2023 have resulted in the seizure of 1,99,502 bottles of Phensydyl and Eskuff syrup worth Rs 3.67 crore. Additionally, they apprehended 15 drug peddlers, both Indian and Bangladeshi. The posts further emphasized BSF’s dedication to curbing drug smuggling, citing the seizure of 15,640 kg of Ganja worth Rs 9.5 crore and the apprehension of 23 Indian and Bangladeshi drug peddlers since January 1, 2023.

“BSF is working diligently to create a Drug-Free India by upholding the rule of law. As part of this campaign, BSF Tripura, Tripura Police, and the Forest Department destroyed 3,93,000 Ganja saplings worth Rs 3.93 crore in various joint operations this year,” the posts read. Apart from its border protection role, BSF has conducted a series of impactful Civic Action programs this year.

“From providing essential amenities to organizing cultural exchanges, BSF is fostering harmony and ensuring progress in border areas,” the posts added.
