Agartala, 6th January 2026: The Forest Department achieved a significant breakthrough in its fight against illegal timber smuggling today. Acting on a tip-off, a special team seized a large quantity of illicit timber from the Pathichhara area near Santirbazar.
According to officials, the operation was launched following secret intelligence reports that a Gorjon tree was being felled in the locality. During the raid, processed timber was confiscated. However, sources said that the smugglers managed to flee the area upon learning of the operation.
Forest officials confirmed that the seized timber had been illegally cut and stockpiled for trafficking. An investigation has been initiated, and authorities assured that those involved will be identified and brought under legal action.
