Agartala, 10th June 2026: South Tripura District Magistrate Sajjad P. conducted a surprise inspection of Bir Chandra Higher Secondary School and Bir Chandra Manu Shahid Smriti Vidyamandir (Class XII) in Santirbazar subdivision on Wednesday to assess the academic environment, infrastructure, and overall functioning of the institutions.
The District Magistrate was accompanied by District Education Officer Dilip Chandra Das, L.G. Kamal Pal Debbarma, School Inspector Pranab Sarkar, and other officials from the administration and education departments.
During the visit, Sajjad P. inspected classrooms, school facilities, and interacted with students to understand their academic experiences, aspirations, and challenges. In a unique gesture, he joined students during the mid-day meal to personally assess the quality of food being served. Expressing satisfaction with the meal’s nutritional value and hygiene standards, he directed the concerned authorities to maintain the quality consistently.
Addressing the students, the District Magistrate urged them to remain focused on their studies and stay away from substance abuse and addiction. Stressing the importance of a healthy lifestyle, he encouraged students to pursue higher education and become self-reliant. He also advised girl students not to enter into marriage before attaining the legal age of 18 and highlighted the importance of continuing their education. Participation in sports and cultural activities was also encouraged as part of holistic development.
District Education Officer Dilip Chandra Das informed students about various vocational and technical education opportunities available to them. He emphasized that job-oriented education has become increasingly important and encouraged students to work hard for better academic results.
During the inspection, Vice Principal Palash Baidya submitted several developmental proposals, including improvement of the school playground and speedy completion of the under-construction school building. Guardians present during the visit also raised concerns regarding the shortage of teachers and sought immediate recruitment to ensure quality education.
Officials appreciated the schools’ cleanliness, discipline, and well-maintained playground, while encouraging the authorities, teachers, and students to continue maintaining high standards. The surprise inspection generated enthusiasm among students and parents, with many viewing it as a positive step toward strengthening educational quality and infrastructure in the region.
