State committee meeting of CPIM held, committee reshuffles

Agartala: May 22. The CPIM in the state has renewed its organizational committees and has decided to intensify their movement against a move to oust the BJP from the state.

The CPIM has its state committee meeting at the party office in Melarmath on Monday. The meeting was attended by CPIM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, Politburo member Prakash Karat, Manik Sarkar, State Secretary and MLA Jitendra Chowdhury and other leaders were present.

Talking about the meeting, sources from the party said that in the meeting it was unanimously decided to further intensify the movement of CPIM with an aim to oust BJP from power.

“Our main aim is to oust this BJP government from the state. We have chalked out some strategies regarding this matter. This is our third state committee meeting after election. This meeting is held as per the rules of the organization. This meeting is mainly to make the organization stronger and to decide the future program”, said the source.

He further informed that during the meeting the leaders have also held a discussion on national situation and on the present central committee.

“We have also held a discussion on how we can be prepared for the 2024 Lok Sabha poll. Following this we have undertaken some strategies and had decided to activate our all committees by renewing all the committees. Some people were dropped from the committee and some of new have come. Following all the process those who are not working for party we dropped them from the committee and induct new faces”, said a CPIM leader.

The CPIM leader said that they have also discussed on the overall situation of the state and concerned about the rising trend of crime against women.

“Still people who are supporting CPIM are coming under attack but people are coming out in protest breaking all barricades. Law and order situation is in grave situation. There is no role from government and police are silent. In some portion they have taken steps. Crime against women has increased, drugs abuses increased. We have launched our movement in Agartala and processes are underway to launch the same across the state”, the CPIM leader added.
