Agartala, May 01, 2023: Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday attended a great voluntary blood donation camp organized by the Tripura Footpath Hawkers’ Sangram Samiti at the Nursing Institute of IGM Hospital here.

At the beginning of the blood donation camp, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder and prominent philanthropist and state president of Vivekananda Vichar Manch Rajib Bhattacharya inaugurated the blood donation camp.

Speaking at the blood donation camp, minister Chowdhury said, “We all know that blood donation saves lives. Saving human life is a great aspect of humanity. Therefore, blood donation awareness should be increased to ensure that those who need blood can get cheap and quality blood on time. Standing next to a person in danger and extending a helping hand is the identity of an ideal person. Every moment hundreds of people are being defeated in the battle of life for a single drop of blood, it is not desirable for us in any way. It is our responsibility and moral duty to meet the urgent need of fresh blood in blood banks.”

He further said that inspiration, encouragement and initiative in humanitarian activities should be our main goal. “As a result, people’s suffering can be reduced a lot in the coming days. By donating blood voluntarily, we can save many lives. It is possible to save the life of a dying person by our voluntary blood donation. Although many achievements have been made in modern medical science, artificial blood has not yet been discovered. As a result, all those patients who need extra blood for some reason, then that blood has to be collected from the body of healthy people. This is why blood donation is considered a great donation. Perhaps the noblest and most sacred of the interdependent dutiful programs of civilization is the saving of human life. But it is not always possible for us to directly save the life of an innocent person. So perhaps the most significant and important act in this regard is blood donation”, he added.

Chowdhury appealed to all students and youth, voluntary organizations, government employees, non-governmental organizations and common people to come forward to donate blood.

Today’s blood donation camp was attended by, among others, Biplab Kar on behalf of Tripura Footpath Hawkers’ Sangram Samiti, Employees’ leader Tapan Das, State Leadership of Labour Monitoring Cell and other dignitaries. Chowdhury also thanked all those who donated blood and registered themselves to donate blood in today’s blood donation camp for this great service mindset and wished everyone good health and a bright future.
