Agartala, May 27, 2023: Attending a mega voluntary blood donation camp organized on the occasion of “First Biennial Conference-2023” of ONGC Employees Union of Tripura at Auditorium Hall of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC)-Tripura Asset Complex at Badharghat here on Saturday morning,  Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury thanked the blood donors and organizers present at the voluntary blood donation camp.

Speaking at the inauguration of the blood donation camp, Chowdhury said, “We all know that blood donation saves lives. Saving human life is a great aspect of humanity. Therefore, blood donation awareness should be increased to ensure that those who need blood can get cheap and quality blood on time. Standing next to a person in danger and extending a helping hand is the identity of an ideal person. Every moment hundreds of people are being defeated in the battle of life for a single drop of blood, it is not desirable for us in any way. It is our responsibility and moral duty to meet the urgent need of fresh blood in blood banks. Inspiration, motivation and initiative in humanitarian activities should be our main goal. As a result, human suffering can be reduced in the future. By donating blood voluntarily, we can save many lives.”

He also said that it is possible to save the life of a poor person in return for our voluntary blood donation. Although many achievements have been made in modern medical science, artificial blood has not yet been discovered. As a result, all those patients who need extra blood for some reason, then that blood has to be collected from the body of healthy people. This is why blood donation is considered a great donation. Perhaps the noblest and most sacred of the interdependent dutiful programs of civilization is the saving of human life. But it is not always possible for us to directly save the life of an innocent person.

So perhaps the most significant and important act in this regard is blood donation, minister Sushanta Chowdhury in his speech urged all the students and youth, voluntary organizations, government employees, non-governmental organizations and common people to come forward to donate blood.

He thanked all those who donated blood and registered themselves to donate blood in this blood donation camp today for this great service mentality and wished them all good health and bright future.

Besides, wishing the overall success of ONGC Employees Union of Tripura’s “First Bi-Annual Conference-2023”, he said in his speech that today’s conference is not only a get-together, but also a grand celebration in the organizational life of all the members of your organization.

Today’s function was attended by other distinguished guests, Mayor of AMC Dipak Majumdar, State’s eminent philanthropist Rajib Bhattacharya, 14-Badharghat assembly constituency MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, 30-Bagma Constituency MLA Rampada Jamatia, ONGC’s Executive Director/Asset Manager Tarun Malik, ONGC GGM/Asset Manager Krishna Kumar, ONGC Employees Union of Tripura President Nitai Debnath, General Secretary Birchandra Debbarma and other guests.
