Tension runs high in Bishalgarh, two rounds fired in air amid BJP-Congress tussle

Agartala Nov 02: Tension ran high in Routhkhala area in Bishalgarh as a sudden violent clash erupted between the ruling BJP and Congress workers on Wednesday.With the 2023 assembly elections drawing close, the political temperature in the state is on rise that is evident from the incidents of clashes and violence reported across the state.

In an alleged intention to subvert the program of opposition Congress, miscreants owing allegiance to the ruling party attacked Congress activists and supporters who were decorating party office to be opened on Thursday.Miscreants allegedly led by Bishalgarh Mandal president Sushanta Deb along with Mohan Sarkar attacked the Congress activists with lathis and other weapons.Though the Congress workers tried to resist but at least 4 persons have been injured including Srikanta Ali.

According to reports from sources the miscreants fired two rounds in the air.The injured were later rushed to the Bishalgarh hospital for treatment.Meanwhile, Fire service vehicle also came under attack when it reached the spot to rescue the injured persons.Congress held BJP Mafia elements responsible for the attacks and violence while alleging that police acted as mute spectators and did nothing to stop the tussle.

Later, a huge CRPF force was deployed along with the police on the spot.On the other hand, BJP leaderships accused PCC member Jaidul Hossain for carrying a pistol that was later stuffed into the pocket of Youth Congress leader James Haque. Leaders including BJP district president Gaurang Bhowmik, Yuva Morcha Pradesh president Navadal Vanik, lawyer Nitai Chowdhury went and advised the karyakartas to remain calm. Although the situation came under control in the afternoon but later Congress leader Joydeb Barman rushed to Bishalgarh from Agartala that created tension once again.

Allegations of bombing have been made against Congress.. Congress office was burnt down. Police fired tear gas shells to con troll the situation. Congress and BJP supporters were evicted from the spot. In the evening, a large police force was deployed there under the leadership of Additional District Superintendent of Police Ranbir Debbarma. District Superintendent of Police BJ Reddy is staying at Bishalgarh police station. He said the situation is under control. District Superintendent of Police said that the culprits will be arrested during the investigation.
