Agartala, 3rd April 2026: Rajeswar Debbarma, former MLA and spokesperson for the Tipra Motha Party, asserted that his party is poised for a resounding win in the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls, claiming there is no significant opposition this time around.
Contesting from the Kulai‑Champahour seat, Debbarma said the party’s support base has expanded significantly under the leadership of royal figure Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma. He emphasized that the party’s primary focus in this election is to protect the rights and future of indigenous communities, alongside pushing for the creation of separate states.
“The enthusiasm and backing for Tipra Motha have grown since the last election. Our central goal is to ensure the survival and welfare of our indigenous people, and we remain committed to our demand for separate states. Despite the ongoing financial challenges, our leader — the Maharaja — has been actively striving for the people’s benefit,” Debbarma said.
Debbarma also criticized the state government, claiming it has failed to allocate adequate funds to the TTAADC despite repeated appeals. He maintained that the council urgently needs greater financial empowerment to drive development.
“In the midst of this financial crunch, we and the Maharaja have continued to work tirelessly for the people. That’s why support for Maharaja Pradyot and the Tipra Motha Party is strengthening. We are more than confident — even 200% sure — that our candidate will secure victory with a margin greater than last year’s. There is no real competition for us in this election,” he added.
Responding to reports of some members joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Debbarma dismissed them as inconsequential, saying such moves were driven by individual interests and would not impact Tipra Motha’s prospects.
