Tripura CM Inaugurates Rath Yatra Festival in Agartala

Agartala, 7th July 2024:  Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha expressed immense joy at the peaceful celebration of the Rath Yatra festival, highlighting its significance and the unity it fosters. He inaugurated the festival organized by ISKCON in Agartala, underscoring the importance of communal effort in ensuring its smooth conduct.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha reminisced about the festival’s rich history, noting its cultural and spiritual significance as a symbol of Lord Jagannath’s presence among devotees. He mentioned the tradition’s roots in ancient texts such as the Brahma Purana and the Padma Purana, emphasizing its global observance by ISKCON.

Dr. Saha also reflected on his recent visit to the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, during which he underscored the temple’s symbolic and spiritual significance. He commended the meticulous planning by local authorities and emergency services to ensure safety during the festivities, recalling past incidents and the measures taken to prevent them.

“I am delighted to witness the Rath Yatra festivities in Agartala and Melaghar, uniting people in joyous celebration,” remarked Dr. Saha, expressing hope for continued harmony and peace during the festival and beyond.
