Tripura Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das highlights rise in fish production beyond 94,000 MTs

Date:

Agartala, 19th June 2026:  Tripura’s Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das on Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Fisheries Department to evaluate achievements, budget utilization, and scheme implementation during the 2025 26 financial year.

Addressing officials from the Sub Divisional to State level, the Minister underscored the importance of assessing both successes and shortcomings. “This review is meant to highlight our achievements, examine budget realization, and identify areas where improvement is needed,” he remarked.

The meeting featured detailed discussions on the pace of departmental activities and the progress of ongoing projects. Minister Das particularly drew attention to the steady rise in fish production, noting that output has climbed from 85,000 metric tons to 89,000 metric tons, and now exceeds 94,000 metric tons.

He credited this growth to the effective rollout of flagship schemes such as the Mukhyamantri Matsya Bikash Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, which have provided crucial support to the sector.

Looking ahead, the Minister affirmed that the department will continue to prioritize enhancing infrastructure, boosting production capacity, and ensuring the efficient delivery of welfare schemes to strengthen Tripura’s fisheries industry.
