Agartala, 13th March 2024: In a significant move to empower the unemployed population, the state government has commenced the construction of a two-storey market stall complex in Mohanpur market. The project, which involves the creation of 84 stalls, is estimated to cost Rs 16 crore and aims to foster self-reliance among the local populace.
The Minister of Tourism and Food and Public Resources Department, Sushanta Chowdhury, announced the initiative following the Bhumi Pujan ceremony. The new market complex, located in the Mohanpur Bazar of the Majlishpur assembly constituency, is designed to provide a modern trading space for the benefit of both the unemployed and the traders.
During the foundation stone laying ceremony held on Wednesday, Minister Chowdhury expressed his optimism about the project, stating that it marks a step forward in the urban and rural development activities spearheaded by the BJP-led state government. He also took the opportunity to outline the various developmental efforts undertaken by the current administration.
Reflecting on the promises made before the last assembly election, Minister Chowdhury reaffirmed his commitment to the business community of Mohanpur Bazar. The construction of the market complex is seen as a fulfillment of long-standing demands and aspirations. The minister conveyed his hope that the completion of the market stalls will significantly contribute to the journey towards self-reliance for the unemployed in the region.
