Tripura Police Recover Three Bodies in Separate Incidents

Agartala, 23rd June 2024:  As many as three dead bodies, including one on which a post-mortem had already been conducted, were recovered in the state.

According to police sources, Tripura Police recovered the dead body of an old man from a forest in the area adjacent to Dhaleshwar in Agartala today. The deceased, Chittaranjan Das (70), was a resident of Ambassa in Dhalai District.

Police said that he used to sell vegetables in the Dhaleshwar area and stayed in Agartala with his two sons. Locals believe he entered the forest at noon to collect leaves, as he did on other days. Later in the afternoon, locals saw him lying dead and informed the police. The police arrived, recovered the body, and sent it to GB Pant Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, in Sabroom under South District, a teacher’s body was found hanging. The deceased was identified as Swapna Chakma. The police of Mankul outpost under Sabroom police station have started investigating the incident. It is known that she lived in a rented house, and the people of the house found the body hanging on Saturday night. The police of Manu-Bankul outpost rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

In another incident this morning, a body on which a post-mortem had been conducted was recovered from the Manu river. The incident took place in Kailashahar Kaulikura Ward No. 5 area. Locals saw the dead body and called the police. Police have started investigating the incident.

According to details of the incident, locals found a dead body covered with a cloth in the water of the Manu river. Kailashahar Police Station OC Shyamal Kanti Majumdar stated that a post-mortem had already been conducted on the body. “Still, for the sake of the investigation, the body will undergo a post-mortem once again,” he said.
