Agartala, 13th May 2026: Amid nationwide outrage over the alleged leak of the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper, the Tripura Youth Congress on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the Central Government, accusing it of failing to protect the integrity of the country’s education system.
Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan, Tripura Youth Congress president Neelkamal Saha alleged that the controversy has shattered the morale of lakhs of meritorious students and exposed deep-rooted corruption and negligence in the central education system.
Saha claimed that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has tilted higher education in favour of financially privileged sections, pushing students from poor and marginalised families further to the sidelines. He also alleged that education is increasingly being commercialised and that despite repeated incidents of examination paper leaks in recent years, the Centre has failed to take effective preventive measures.
The Tripura Youth Congress demanded the resignation of the Union Education Minister and called for the dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA). The organisation further urged that the responsibility of conducting examinations be handed back to the states.
The youth wing also demanded a fair and impartial investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court to identify the masterminds behind the alleged leak as well as any political links associated with the racket.
In addition, the organisation called for a transparent re-examination process without imposing any extra financial or mental burden on students. It also sought compensation for economically weaker candidates whose families allegedly took loans or mortgaged property to support their exam preparation.
Saha said the alleged NEET-UG scandal reflects how corruption under the BJP-led government is jeopardising the future of millions of deserving students. He added that the Youth Congress would actively participate in nationwide protests against the commercialisation of education and recurring examination paper leak incidents.
