Agartala, 14th October 2025 :  The revered Tripureswari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths is being adorned in vibrant lights and decorations ahead of the upcoming Diwali celebrations. This year, the temple town of Matabari will host a three-day Diwali festival from October 20 to 22, drawing lakhs of pilgrims from across Tripura, other Indian states, neighbouring Bangladesh and beyond.

Today, senior officials including Gomati District Magistrate Rinku Lathar, local MLA Abhishek Debroy and Udaipur Municipal Chairman Shital Chandra Majumder visited the temple premises to oversee preparations. The team inspected key areas such as the Dhanamanikya Mukta Mancha, temple courtyard, and fairgrounds, focusing on security and infrastructure upgrades.

The festival will commence with an inaugural ceremony at the Dhanamanikya stage, located in the northeastern corner of Kalyan Sagar. LED screens and promotional displays highlighting Tripura’s tourism will be installed across the fairgrounds, which will be illuminated with colourful lighting arrangements.

Over 2,000 vendors are expected to set up stalls, while cultural performances featuring artists from India and abroad will add to the festive spirit. The event is considered one of the largest fairs in the state.

To ensure safety and smooth operations, the district administration has held two rounds of review meetings. Security measures will include watch towers, CCTV surveillance, and strict monitoring by local police, especially around Kalyan Sagar, where bathing will be prohibited during the festival.

The Horticulture Department will decorate the temple’s main entrance with floral arrangements, 60–70% of which will be natural flowers. Temporary sanitation facilities, drinking water stations, and dustbins will be installed, with Udaipur Municipality’s sanitation staff maintaining cleanliness throughout the event.

More than 600 volunteers will be deployed in three shifts to assist visitors. Additionally, heritage-themed posters will be displayed along both sides of the national highway from Udaipur Brahmabari to Matabari.

As in previous years, the temple complex is being transformed into a radiant hub of devotion and celebration, with devotees eagerly awaiting the spiritual and cultural grandeur of Diwali at Matabari.
