Agartala, 15th July 2024: A recent study has declared Cape Town, the capital city of South Africa, as the world’s first waterless city, highlighting the critical global issue of water scarcity. Despite the Earth being covered in water, only a small fraction is drinkable fresh water, essential for the survival of all animals.
In response to this alarming situation, the Tripura State Pollution Control Board and the NSS unit of Women’s College organized an awareness campaign on Monday. Students from the college’s NSS unit distributed leaflets to pedestrians in the capital, emphasizing the importance of conserving drinking water.
A student from the NSS unit informed the media about the dire state of the world’s drinking water supply, stressing the necessity of preventing water wastage. “Everyone needs drinking water to survive,” she stated, “and our aim is to make people aware of the critical need to stop wasting this precious resource.”
