Agartala, December 02: Two youths, who were involved in the sand business, died on their way to GB Hospital in Agartala after being rescued from a bike accident near Gerez Tila area under Belonia police station on Friday night. The deceased have been identified as Abhijit Dey and Asish Majumdar, who had left for home from Bankar on a bike around 10:30 pm.
According to sources, the duo did not return home that night and their families informed the Belonia fire brigade personnel, who reached the spot and found them lying on the road with severe injuries. They were taken to Belonia sub-divisional hospital and later shifted to GB Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The police have started an investigation into the incident, as there are rumours that it was not a mere accident but a planned murder. The police have visited the spot and collected evidence, and are also questioning the witnesses and the relatives of the victims. The incident has created a sensation in Belonia sub-division.
