Agartala, 15th December 2025: In a vibrant display of tradition and unity, Umakanta Academy marked its 163rd Foundation Day on Saturday with a grand procession organized by the Umakanta Alumni Association. The colorful parade commenced from the school premises, weaving through key thoroughfares of the city before returning to the academy grounds, drawing participation from a large number of former students.
The event was not merely a celebration but a heartfelt homecoming for many. Former president of the alumni association and noted lawyer Sandeep Dutta Choudhury expressed the deep emotional significance the day holds for him and his peers. “The Foundation Day is not just a date on the calendar—it’s an emotion we carry with us,” he remarked. “Even after crossing the age of fifty, I eagerly await this day every year. There’s joy in this anticipation.” He also voiced his hope for an equally spirited celebration next year and noted that several programs had been organized this year to commemorate the occasion.
The procession saw the presence of prominent alumni including current president Shubhabrata Deb, former president Sandeep Dutta Choudhury, general secretary Subhashish Majumdar, and other distinguished members of the Umakanta Alumni Association.
Throughout the day, a series of events paid tribute to the school’s illustrious legacy, blending nostalgia with celebration. The Foundation Day served as a poignant reminder of the institution’s enduring impact on generations of students and its cherished place in the community’s collective memory.
