Agartala, 19th February 2025: A body of an unidentified vagabond was recovered in the Swami Vivekananda Maidan’s stage area this morning, causing a stir among local residents. Eyewitnesses informed the police, who promptly arrived at the scene to recover the body and transport it to a hospital for an autopsy.
A police officer on the scene stated, “The identity of the deceased youth has not been known yet. We have taken up a case of unnatural death and started investigating.”
It is reported that the passersby spotted a man lying under the stage at the stable ground early in the morning. They immediately alerted the authorities. The police quickly responded, recovered the body, and sent it for an autopsy. An eyewitness shared, “The deceased used to roam around the Lake Chowmuhani area like a vagrant. Although his name is not known, he is said to be from the Barjala Nepali Basti area.”
The eyewitness further added that the deceased had injury marks on his head and ear. Initial police assumptions suggest that a dog or cat may have taken some part of the deceased’s ear, but it was noted that the person had been ill for some time. The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating the matter.
In a separate incident, the body of a college student was recovered from a rented house near Anik Club in Shibnagar at 7 AM. This event has created a stir in the area. Locals reported that the young man had been living in the rented house for a long time and was known to be very calm.
The deceased has been identified as Bipul Jamatia, a college student residing in the house of Tapan Pal, a resident near Anik Club in Shibnagar. Bipul was studying at MBB College and his family home is in Udaipur.
Sources said, Tapan Pal became suspicious when Bipul did not respond in the morning. Upon entering the house, he found Bipul lying on the floor and immediately informed the police. The police swiftly arrived, recovered the body, and sent it to the hospital for an autopsy. Bipul’s father rushed to the scene upon hearing the news.
The father of the deceased shared, “He had been ill for some time and could not be found all day yesterday. I was coming to Agartala this morning to find out, and then I received the news that my son’s body had been recovered.” The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
