Agartala, 18th June 2025: The Dhalai Divisional Committee of the Vedic Brahmin Samaj today submitted a memorandum comprising seven key demands to the Chief Minister through the District Magistrate and Collector of Dhalai district.
The delegation urged the state government to reintroduce Sanskrit as a compulsory subject from Class VI to XII across all schools and to reopen the long-defunct Sanskrit College in the state. They also sought financial support for members of the Brahmin community, citing economic hardship. Specific appeals included educational stipends for Brahmin students, monthly allowances for financially distressed elders above the age of 50, and restoration and renovation of temples across the state. Additionally, they called for the appointment of full-time priests in temples with provisions for regular honorariums.
The deputation was led by Committee Secretary Kinkar Bhattacharya and President Pradip Goswami, along with other members. According to representatives, the District Magistrate attentively received the demands and assured that the memorandum would be forwarded to the Chief Minister’s office for consideration.
