Agartala, 25th July 2025:   Residents of Srinathpur have reached a boiling point over a prolonged drinking water crisis leading to a road blockade today demanding immediate and permanent solutions from the administration.

For over nine months, the locality has grappled with acute water shortages, forcing them to rely on unsafe sources such as ponds and canals. Despite repeated appeals to the local water department, the issue remained unresolved, pushing locals to the brink.

“We’ve pleaded with authorities time and again, but nothing has changed. We’re surviving on contaminated water. It’s a question of life and death now,” said a resident.

Eyewitnesses reported that traffic came to a standstill as demonstrators blocked a key stretch of road to voice their frustration. Police officials rushed to the scene following reports of the agitation, and the blockade was lifted only after administrative officials assured prompt pipeline repairs.

However, trust appears to be wearing thin. Villagers expressed skepticism toward the promises made, warning of intensified agitation if tangible progress is not seen soon. “This isn’t the first assurance. If steps aren’t taken swiftly, we will be compelled to launch a larger movement,” one protester noted.

The episode has spotlighted the growing urgency for infrastructure intervention and the deepening disconnect between administrative response and ground realities in rural pockets.
