Agartala, 21st January 2026: A poignant appeal has surfaced from Vidya Lochan village under Simna’s No. 1 Assembly Constituency, where a visually impaired widow is battling illness and poverty without support.
Kalpana Debbarma, who lost her husband and is now completely blind in both eyes, has been living in distressing conditions. With no financial means to seek medical care, she remains dependent on the kindness of others.
Speaking to the media, Debbarma urged Simna MLA and Minister Brishaketu Debbarma, along with Rabindra Debbarma, EM of the ADC to intervene and provide immediate assistance. She also appealed to society’s well-wishers for compassion.
Her words conveyed the depth of her struggle: “If I could see with even one eye, I would have survived by begging. But now I am left with no means.”
The case has sparked concern among locals, highlighting the vulnerability of marginalized individuals and raising questions about the role of governance in extending relief. Attention now turns to whether the leaders she named will respond to her call, as her life hangs precariously between despair and hope.
