Agartala, 21st December 2025:  An incident took place in Bamutia late last night when locals surrounded the house of a Left leader after his son, Abhijit Sarkar, was accused of repeated goat theft. Under mounting public pressure, police from Airport Police Station and Bamutiya outpost intervened and arrested the youth.

According to eyewitness accounts, Sarkar allegedly used an Eeco van normally employed for hawking goods to steal goats from various areas across the state. His driver, Sumit Ghosh, confessed to villagers that Sarkar frequently picked up goats during his trips, admitting that “many goats have been stolen.” Ghosh further revealed that Sarkar was also involved in selling narcotics.

Residents reported that goats had recently been stolen from Tebaria and West Laxmilunga, with incidents occurring as recently as a month ago. Pressured by villagers, Ghosh disclosed details of the thefts, leading to formal complaints lodged at Bamutiya outpost yesterday.

This is not the first time Sarkar has faced public wrath. Just weeks ago, he was caught at Radhanagar stand allegedly selling drug containers and was beaten by locals before being handed over to police. Multiple allegations of anti-social activities have been raised against him.

Frustrated by his repeated offenses, villagers surrounded his residence last night, detained him, and handed him over to law enforcement. Another Left leader, Dulal Sarkar, along with driver Sumit Ghosh, later spoke to the media about the entire episode.
