The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed the lawyers to have the option of attending courts physically or virtually, in view of the Air pollution.
Solicitor General(SG) Tushar Mehta, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Kapil Sibal and Senior Advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan requested the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna for complete virtual functioning of all courts in Delhi and NCR region citing severe pollution levels warranting GRAP IV measures.
Justice Sanjiv Khanna said the courts will function in a hybrid mode.
The CJI said lawyers have the option of attending courts physically or virtually. He assured no case would be dismissed for absence of lawyers’ in the courtroom.
The SG again requested for total virtual mode, but Justice Khanna said at present courts would function in hybrid mode.
