In the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, the state foundation day of West Bengal was celebrated with traditional Bengali fervor and traditions at the Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.
Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik and his wife Anagha Parnaik participated in the celebration along with the people of West Bengal residing in the state.
The Governor greeted the West Bengal communities residing in Arunachal Pradesh on the special occasion. He also conveyed good wishes to the people of West Bengal on behalf of all Arunachalis.
The governor complimented the Bengali communities for their substantial contribution to the developmental progress of Arunachal Pradesh. He said that the people of the state are proud of them.
The Governor, while recalling the cultural and natural richness of West Bengal, said that the land of Rabindranath Tagore, Swami Vivekananda, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and many other prominent people of Indian history has always inspired other states of the nation. He said that West Bengal, which is one of the leading states of the country, has been a prominent seat of art and culture, literature, and knowledge.
A cultural program reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Bengal was presented on the occasion by the participants. The students of Nrityangan Dance & Music Academy, Itanagar, performed the song ‘Dhono Dhannye Pushpe Bhora’ and group dance ‘Bhanu Singher podaboli’ while Joshita Roy Karmakar and Ishita Das presented a Bengali folk dance and Krisha Choudhury and Swarnali Majumdar performed a traditional Bengali dance number.
As special guests of the Governor, the students from Govt Upper Primary School, ESS Sector, Itanagar, witnessed the program.
The governor and his better half hosted a high tea for the participants. They also interacted with members of the Bengali community.
