Hamirpur LS seat: Reports 1415724 electors 7,08,153 males & 7,07,556 females

Deputy Commissioner-cum Returning Officer for Hamirpur seat, Amarjeet Singh, on Tuesday reported that there are 1415724 electors in the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat, comprising 7,08,153 males and 7,07,556 females.

The number of third-gender voters is 15. In addition to this, there are 23,269 service voters in the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat.

He said as many as 1,784 polling stations would be set up for conducting the polling for the Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat, which spreads over seventeen assembly constituencies of the districts of Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, and parts of Mandi and Kangra. The number of sensitive polling stations is 113.

Talking to media persons on Tuesday, Hamirpur will go to the polls on June 1, and for this, the election process will start with the filing of nomination papers on May 7. The last date for the withdrawal of nomination papers is May 17.

He said there are 34,589 electors in the age group of 18–19 years, and the number of those above one hundred years of age is 416, including 112 males and 304 females.

The returning officer said the model code of conduct had been enforced in all seventeen constituencies, and concerned assistant returning officers had been directed to ensure proper implementation of the code.

He appealed to the people to take an active part in election-related activities and ensure that the percentage of electors at the polling station was much higher than in the previous elections.

The returning officer said that a postal ballot facility for senior citizens (85+) with suspected or affected COVID-19 will be provided.

BLO will visit the houses of these category electors, deliver 12D to the concerned elector, and obtain acknowledgement from them. The elector may or may not opt for a postal ballot. If he or she opts for a postal ballot, then BLO will collect the filled-in Form 12D from the house of the elector within five days of notification of the election. The polling party will visit the house of the elector twice for postal voting.
