The opening day of the brief monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly was adjourned for the day on Monday after making obituary references to the departed souls who passed away during the intervening period.
Welcoming the members of the house, Bihar assembly speaker Awadh Bihari Choudhary appealed to them to cooperate in the smooth functioning of the house. He said that the members are expected to raise their issues by the laid-down rules and regulations of the house.
The Speaker announced the names of the presiding officers and also constituted the business advisory committee for the monsoon session of the lower house.
Later obituaries made references to those who passed away during the intervening period, including former MLAs Gayatri Devi and Shobhakant Mandal, former MLC Sone Lal Mehta, and Puneshwar Mandal.
Earlier, BJP members from their seats demanded either the resignation or sacking of Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Prasad Yadav because of the charge sheet filed against him in the land for a job scam.
