Rahul meets Army martyr’s parents in Rae Bareli

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday met the parents of a martyred Army officer and interacted with residents of his Rae Bareli parliamentary constituency to solve of their problems.

During his second visit to the constituency after elections, Gandhi met the parents of martyred Army officer and Kirti Chakra awardee Captain Anshuman Singh, who was killed in action in July last year in Siachen, and expressed solidarity.

Due to bad weather, Gandhi reached Rae Bareli by road this afternoon from Lucknow airport and started his day-long visit by offering prayers at the Hanuman temple.

He also met a delegation of doctors and discussed their problems.

Gandhi gave an assurance to a team of advocates on their demand for an Advocate Welfare Fund.

The MP also met local party leaders including former Congress Assembly and Nagar Panchayat candidates, former MLAs, former MPs, organisation officials, block presidents and committee officials.

The Leader of Opposition assured party workers that he would highlight problems like unemployment, inflation, and paper leak in the upcoming budget session of Parliament.

He also visited the Shaheed Smarak in Rae Bareli and paid tribute to the farmers.

He planted a tree at the martyr’s memorial. After this he visited All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rae Bareli, and enquired about the health of patients.

During his first visit to his constituency after being elected, Gandhi had participated in a meeting with his sister Priyanka Gandhi and Amethi’s newly-elected MP Kishori Lal Sharma to express gratitude to the public and workers.
