More than 70 aircrafts of the participate in the 92nd anniversary
of the Indian Air Force to be held here from October six to eight.
A mega and grand Air Show will be held in World’s second largest beach, Marina will
be held as part of the three-day event.
This is one of India’s biggest ever air show and nearly 15 lakh people are expected to
throng the beach to witness the fly past spectacle being held in Chennai after a gap of
21 years.
The last time the City hosted this event was in 2003 in which 13 lakh people
witnessed it.
Air Commodore H Assudani, who is the Officer in Control of the fly past, on Wednesday
released the aircraft plans to the media after the second rehearsal.
The second rehearsal was held at Marina today.
Akash Ganga Team : The Akash Ganga team is India’s premier military parachute display
team based at paratroopers’ training school Agra. The team displays at venues, both in
India and abroad throughout the year. The members of the team are qualified parachute
jump instructors of paratroopers training school located at Air Force Station Agra. The unit
is responsible for training and supporting all Indian airborne forces as well as providing a
distinctive demonstration of free fall and canopy skills throughout the year. Each team
member undergoes continuous advanced training as parachute jumping instructor. Their
exciting free-fall display, which includes advanced maneuvers falling at, speeds close
to 200 kmph.
Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) : The SKAT is the aerobatic demonstration
team of the IAF established in 1996 and based out of AFS Bidar. The display team
operates on Hawk Mk 132 aircraft and showcases the flying prowess of IAF with
intricate aerial maneuvers including loops roles and synchronized formations.
