The White House announced on Friday that Apple had joined other major AI companies in signing onto voluntary commitments to promote responsible AI innovation, according to a release.
“Today, the administration announced that Apple has signed onto the voluntary commitments, further cementing these commitments as cornerstones of responsible AI innovation,” the release stated.
Last year, building upon the voluntary commitments received by 15 major American AI companies, US President Joe Biden issued an executive order directing federal agencies to take action to address the safety and security risks posed by AI.
The agencies also reported on Friday that they had met all of their commitments under the order on schedule thus far and were making progress on longer-term actions.
