Man Found Dead in Canal in Udaipur, Investigation Underway

Agartala, 2nd May 2026:  A man’s body was recovered from the Pitra Canal in Udaipur on Saturday night, sparking concern and tension in the surrounding area.

According to reports, the Udaipur Fire Service received information about a body spotted in the canal. A fire engine was immediately dispatched to the location, and personnel began a rescue operation. The individual was retrieved from the water and rushed to Gomati District Hospital, where the attending doctor declared him dead.

The deceased has been identified as Chandan Debnath, a resident of West Pitra.Following necessary procedures, the body was sent for post-mortem examination and later handed over to the family.

The incident has created a stir in the locality. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
