Agartala, 5th July 2025: In a heart-wrenching appeal, sixth-grade student Nabarupa Ghosh has urged government authorities and the public to extend financial support for her father’s critical medical treatment following a late-night road accident near Charilam Bazar.
Her father 50-year-old vegetable vendor Nandakishore Ghosh of Dashrath Palli, Bishramganj suffered life-threatening injuries when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a Maruti car bearing registration TR03-0757 around 11:30 PM yesterday near the Joyram Hotel. Ghosh was returning from Bishalgarh with his friend Nimai Debnath after completing business for the day.
According to eyewitnesses, the impact hurled both men onto the national highway where they lay unconscious and bleeding until alerted locals rushed to the scene. Fire brigades from Bishramganj and Bishalgarh arrived jointly and transported the victims to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Due to the severity of their injuries, both were referred to GBP Hospital at Agartala.
Back in Bishramganj, the Ghosh family’s anguish deepened. With limited means and mounting medical costs, Nandakishore’s wife Samanika rushed to the hospital with their two-year-old son and deaf-mute sister-in-law, while young Nabarupa remained at home. Visibly distressed, she told local reporters on Saturday morning, “We have no money. We don’t know how to save our father.”
Relatives say the family struggles even to afford basic food. Nandakishore’s younger brother Biplab Ghosh echoed the plea for help, describing the dire financial strain on the household.
The accident spot adjacent to the bustling Charilam market is reportedly prone to collisions. Locals alleged that hotels operating late into the night create congestion as vehicles parked along the highway, narrowing the road and increasing risks. They further claim that the Bishalgarh police have taken little action against hotel operators who allow such encroachments. Residents are demanding immediate intervention and stricter enforcement to prevent further tragedies.
Meanwhile, both Ghosh and Debnath remain under intensive treatment at GBP Hospital, while a young daughter clings to hope and awaits compassionate aid.
